Paris–I had this trip planned out before the US elections knowing full well that our country might not have a President-elect by the time it was wheels up. I fully expected a Presidential challenge and possible drawn out results. However along with many Americans, what I wasn’t prepared for, was a full out Trump win including a full sweep by the republicans of the House and Senate. Depressed by what’s in store for good ol’ US of A, I’m out!

Getting out of DC
In this sense, coming to Paris today shifted from just being a short weekend away, into a respite from the reality of the election results in America. I’m worn out, depressed by the whole process and weary to the bone by it all. While our checks and balances will protect many rights and ensure the democratic process is intact, being here in the “City of Lights” refreshes me to my core, as it always does.

Paris opera
Instead of taking the train from the airport in, I decided to take the Roissy bus and walk from the Opera to my hotel in the 6eme. I enjoyed taking in the views and admiring the architecture.

Voltaire Quay
While it’s a little overcast this early am, the sun is threatening to peek through.

CityPharma
Well, that’s a bust because today is also a holiday in France 🇫🇷 and they are closed. Guess it will be an early morning spent jostling the Saturday shopping crowds. I guess next order of business is a nap…😉
A few more views before my return to the now ready hotel room…
